300 NRP supporters defect to GDC

According to report from the National Youth President of The Gambia Democratic Party (GDC) MC Cham Junior, has disclosed to the Point that 300 National Reconciliation (NRP) members has defected to GDC. The members switched their allegiance to the party on Saturday during a political rally in Chamen Nianija, in the Central River Region.m He added that the defectors were received and welcomed impressively to  GDC by the party leader Hon. Mamma Kandeh, who appreciates every Gambian that has the vision in helping him to contributes his quarter to the socioeconomic development of The Gambia. He said the rally was successfully attended by party militants, supporters and lovers, were all the resident of Chamen and nearby were in attendance to saw their support and love for GDC .

Gambia, Senegal commits together for upcoming presidential council

By Pa Modou Cham The minister of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment Hon Lamin Jobe has disclosed that The Gambia and Senegal have committed to work together for the upcoming 2nd Presidential Council. He was speaking recently at the celebration of the 59th Senegalese independence held at the ambassador resident in Brusubi. The Presidential Council be held in Senegal recently in order to implement the agreements signed and finalise discussions on outstanding issues. The minister explained on the regional and continental levels, saying that the presence of 18 heads of state at the recently inauguration ceremony of Macky Sall, is a clear demonstration of appreciation of the support to President Sall and for the way Senegal is doing business. Ambassadors present diplomatic credentials to Barrow

The Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in The Gambia Seraphine Wakana, along with the diplomatic envoys of the United States and Burkina Faso on Monday presented their Letters of Credence to President Adama Barrow at a ceremony at the State House in Banjul. After a closed door meeting with the president, her Excellency, Seraphine Wakana told the waiting State House press corps that she was pleased to have her credentials accepted by President Barrow. She emphasised that the UN is committed to supporting Gambia’s transition programmes and its development aspirations as enshrined in the NDP 2018-2021. President Barrow emphasised the importance of institutional reforms and transitional justice efforts in The Gambia, especially at the security sector level. He said the reforms should be beneficial to the democratic principles and human rights initiatives being embarked upon.
