GAM-MINDS community entrepreneurship training underway

GAM-MINDS foundation in collaboration with the US embassy is now into community entrepreneurship training held over the weekend at The Gambia Postural Institution (GPI). The training is gears towards the development of Gambians youth in various life skills. 

The President and the founder of GAM-MINDS foundation Gabriel Gomez has explained that the foundation seek to get the best of young people especial in entrepreneurship, education and innovation. He added that is their first entrepreneurship try, saying before this they use to have lot of activities like going to the various schools to be able to help in mentoring them.

“Our engagement has been more than twelve thousands young people across the country, we do organize seminars and boost in business. GAM-MINDS help many young people to get their own businesses,” he said.

He reiterated that the community entrepreneurship drive seek to get the young people and look at the programs they are facing and solve them, by helping them get income out of it.

He added that they are training them from technology, waste management, and agriculture, among other things. “All the ideas will either create employment or solve particular needs that the community has,” he explained.

The secretary of GAM-MINDS Evou Lawrence Mendy explained that the training is an initiative of GAM-MINDS foundation which is a youth pledge Organisation that motivates inspire, to nurture, develop and support young people. 

He said they want young people to look at their community and come up with a solution that can be turn in to a business.

 “We offer an application and more than hundred people applied but we were able to confirm only fifty. The best twenty ideas will move to the other stage of the training and then have the ten best ideas out of the twenty best, and we are going to mentor them for one year with four boots camp and helping them with and asset capital of ten thousand dalasi,” he said.

Ousainou Ceesay, a participant expressed delights that as a young entrepreneurship he feels that participating in the training is a plus to him because it motivate them as young people. 

“All what I want to gain most in this training is about networking to involve other experience young people in my business. Networking is a core element of every business because I think if once should open a business, needs networking to help him implement his/her operations,” he lamented.
