Senegambia CSOs advocates for one ID card




These were revealed over the weekend at the forum organized by Beakanyang and Team Gomsa Bopa in collaboration with the Senegalese counterpart Yen A Marre.

The forum formed parts of 12 months project called MBOKA and supported by NED foundation to bring the people of the two countries closer. It also seeks among other things to promote and strengthen cultural ties and sharing of experiences between the CSOs and peoples of The Gambia and Senegal.

Nfamara Jawneh, executive director Beakanyang explained that our two governments have already laid the foundation to encourage citizenship between the two countries because they have being showcasing the togetherness we want since the new Gambia.

“The project is to consolidate the ties between the two countries by compliment the efforts of the two governments in their quest to bring the Gambia and Senegal closer. Senegal and Gambia is all the same because we share the same food, religions, tribes and cultures. The barrier of our colonist should not limit us as the same people in consolidating our relationship,” he pointed.

He added that we are the same but we still have difficulties with stereotype that could be address and it inspired them to come with the initiative ‘MBOKA’.

He explained that since they started the project, they really made a great impact by collaborating together and knows their areas of corporation and duties.

He highlighted that they will tour the country and informs our people of the benefit to build our relationship with Senegal for social development.

Ali Cham alias Killer Ace said people have a common saying that Senegal and Gambia is one country and he believes that with the project, they can change Senegal and Gambia forever and bring it together as one nation.

He said Gambians or Senegalese citizens shouldn’t have any difficulties when cross our borders, saying there is lot of stereotype within our own people which they are committed to fight against that mindset.

Senegalese in attendance, have applauds the great initiative and vows to further strengthen ties for mutual benefits. 


The Gambia and Senegal Civil Society Organisations (CSO) have come to an agreement of introducing Senegambia identity card to our two governments, in order to promote free movement of people and goods and create enabling environment for the sister countries.
