30 GAF officers trained on engineering


The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) has yesterday graduated thirty officers who underwent five months intensive training on engineering to serve GAF. The graduation was held at Yundum Barack.

Brigadier general Ramatoulie B.K Sanyang thanked all the commanders who partake in the training, saying there is need to consolidate on the achievements made so far and improve on the identified weak areas, especially in engineering.

“This is the fifth time in the history of the GAF engineers thus making today’s ceremony most special. I recalled personnel ceremony cadre 04 around July 2018, which was about 50 soldiers and was a significant figure to both GAF engineers and different platinum,” he explained.

She thanked the director of GAF engineer for the hard work and dedication towards building capacity and his guidance throughout the training.

Col. Paul Authur Gomez, Director GAF engineers thanked the trainers for carrying the great initiative, while urging the graduates to utilize the knowledge gain.

“I want you to take responsibilities, I heard some people use to take contracts outside without consulting your director and you will end of having problem. We are not telling you not to have contract outside GAF but you should discuss it with your director. You are trained to serve the armed forces only. We are just accepting such because of our commitment you but nothing else,” he said.

The graduates were trained on the areas of solar system, dumpy level for construction, electrical wiring, plumbing, carpentry, welding and fabrication, and construction technology.
