Gov’t trained CSOs, media on public finance management

The ministry of finance has recently concluded two day training on public finance management to Civic Society Organizations (CSOs) and the media held at a local hotel in Kololi, to familiar with the new strategy of Treasury Single Account (TSA) initiative.

Mr. Ansumana Yabo, Board Chairperson of The Association of Non-Government Organization, said part of their work is to sensitize the grass root to be aware of activities of the government.

He said “The consultation would help in supporting accountability mechanisms for the Ministry of Finance. It would also help the Ministry of Finance in the areas of transparency, support in the dissemination of key information regarding public finance, for this reason inviting us here, we are grateful”.

He commended the Finance Ministry for what he described as a courageous move to provide the training, so as to capacitate the participants on Public Finance Management.

Yaya Drammeh, Deputy Accountant General Ministry of Finance, said the forum ensured effective and efficient, high level of transparency and accountability in the management of public finance, through its various initiatives, as the Civil Service Organizations has a dissemination network in reinforcing government effort in this respect.

“It is in this regard that the Ministry of Finance appreciates the need to have an annual forum with CSOs. This year’s forum will be concentrated on Treasury Single Account dubbed TSA. This is being pursued by the Government with the objective to ensure effective management of government funds,  in order to provide real time access to financial information, regarding the revenues and expenditure as well as improve transparency and accountability of public funds”, he said.
