Minister Sanyang proposes ECOWAS to promote the use of cooking gas

                                         Minister of Petroleum and Energy, The Gambia Fafa Sanyang, the minster of Petroleum and Energy during today’s Africa ministerial round-table virtual meeting jointly hosted by the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy of Senegal on the Impact of Covid-19 on Africa's Energy Sector, proposed the ECOWAS member states to promote the use of cooking gas in order to eradicate the use of fuel wood and charcoals. Covid-19: Gambia confirms 37 cases, 2 deaths

Dr. Ahmadou Lamin Samateh, Health Minister The Ministry of Health on Saturday during the national situation report since the confirmation of the first case of the novel Coronavirus disease in the country, on the 17th March 2020, indicated that The Gambia has so far registered 37 cases of Coronavirus, 2 deaths and 24 recoveries. The ministry further stated that 1 new laboratory confirmed case of Covid-19 registered, bringing the total number of cases ever confirmed in the country to 37. “The new case is the second documented Covid-19 related death since the first case was reported in the country . In addition to his advanced age, he also had an underlying health condition–a known diabetic. One of the 129 new laboratory test results received returned negative.” Ministry said while 22 people were newly taken into quarantine, 4 new people were discharged after testing negative for Covid-19 upon completion of the mandatory quarantine period. ...

Dr. Ousman Jah, the Imam of Taqwa Mosque has opposed the statement issued by Imam Baba Leigh of Kanifing Mosque for supporting gay rights, Jah said there are authentic Hadiths that indicated that gays should be killed and their supporters have committed greatest sins. Barrow says Covid-19 causes negative impact on employment, gov’t revenue

President Adama Barrow has stated that the global Covid-19 pandemic’s impact on employment, government revenue and the subsistence of the people is immensely negative. Darboe expresses heartfelt condolences to George Floyd’s family, others

The secretary general and party leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP) Lawyer Ousainou ANM Darboe today issued a statement expressing his heartfelt condolences to the families of George Floyd, Momodou Lamin Sisay of the Sisay Family of Kudang in The Gambia and all other African Americans who lost their lives as a result of excessive use of force by the Police. The politician stated that the recent events surrounding local police in jurisdictions within the United States have ended in tragic loss of lives including one that involves a Gambian citizen Momodou Lamin Sisay who lived in Atlanta.
