SWI-GAM Ltd boost GFRS with borehole

  SWI-GAM Limited has recently donated a borehole with capacity to refill a fire engine within 8 to 10 minutes, concrete spreader machine and other mechanical tools to The Gambia Fire and Rescue Services (GFRS). The manager of SWI-GAM Limited Mr. Ebrima Cole thanked the fire and rescue staff for the sacrifice in preventing and responding to fire incidents. He promised to do more in areas of capacity building training for the staff of. Last month Mr. Cole donated a fire truck to the GFRS through Interior Ministry. The Deputy Chief Fire Officer of GFRS Alhagie Lamin Sanyang who deputized for the chief fire officer, thanked Mr. Cole for the donated items and assured him that the donated materials will be put into best use. Gambian migrant workers repatriated after months stranded in Lebanon

A None Government Organization (NGO) Action for Humanity have confirmed paying for 38 Gambian women’s travel after stranded in Lebanon for months and were able to return home earlier this week despite a lack of support from The Gambia government.  In a statement released on Friday, Action for Humanity confirmed that it had "facilitated the repatriation of 38 Gambian women including two children from Beirut".  With no direct flights between Lebanon and Gambia, the NGO paid for flights to the Senegalese capital Dakar and organized buses to the women's hometowns.  "The reaction of the women once they arrived at the end of the long journey was relief," the NGO's executive director, Lovette Jallow, told Middle East Eye on Sunday.  The repatriated Gambian women were among thousands of domestic workers from African or Asian countries who were abandoned or forced to flee employers unable to pay them in Lebanon while the country suffers from a crippling economic

Gambia sworn-in 16 promoted magistrates

The Chief Justice of The Gambia Hon. Hassan B. Jallow on the 1st and 2nd of September 2020 presided over the promotion and swearing-in of 16 Magistrates to various positions. The said promotion includes, 10 promoted to Senior Magistrate, 5 promoted to Principal Magistrate and one to Chief Magistrate. During the ceremony, His Worship Omar Cham of Brikama Magistrates’ Court was promoted from principal magistrate to chief magistrate; Sidi K. Jobarteh of Kanifing Magistrates’ Court and Pa Modou Njie of Bundung Magistrates’ Court were promoted from senior magistrate to principal magistrates; Omar Jabang of Basse Magistrate Court, Muhammed Krubally of Brikama Magistrates’ Court and Isatou Dabo of Kanifing Municipal Council Tribunal were also promoted from 1st class magistrate to principal magistrate. Among the people promoted from 1st class magistrate to senior magistrate were Isatou Sallah M’Bai of Kanifing Children’s Court, Pierrette Mendy Sarr of Kanifing Industrial Tribunal, Fatoumat
