GAF PRO debunks gunshot on suspected timber trafficker

The Public Relation Officer (PRO) Lt. Malick Sanyang of The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) has sight light on the uncertain news that has been rolling in town that a suspected timber trafficker was shot by Senegalese army in Sibanor.

According to sources, the man became unconscious due to wounds he sustained during the incident, he was later hospitalized. Sibanor is located in Foni Bintang-Karenai, on the West Coast Region of The Gambia.

Nevertheless, PRO said that The Gambia and Senegal has mutual understanding to support each other in security. He added that he knew that a driver was mal-handled by the Senegalese army but he doesn’t know how and why.

He buttressed on how the Senegalese security base in Sibanor and Bwiam, saying that the Senegalese Contingent there are deployed as part of the Bilateral Relations Agreement between The Gambia and Senegal. He added that the troops are not part of ECOMIG therefore they operate under a separate mandate based on the agreement between the two countries.
