Gambia to host Davido concert
Nigerian popstar Davido will be performing at the QCity
venue in the Gambia on 9 December.
The 'FIA' singer would be joined by Gambian act Brikama Boyo in an event brought to the Gambia by
the new entertainment company Fizzle Entertainment.
"I'm going to be live in The Gambia," says Davido in a
video posted online. It will be his second visit to the country. "This
time it's going to be different. So all my Gambians, I know you guys love
me and I love you too. I want to see everybody come out, let's celebrate."
Ahmed Tijan of Fizzle Entertainment was
the manager of the Gambian group Nobles until recently. He took to
Facebook to announce his exit from the group and his new role in the
Gambian music industry.
"Dear friends and family," he
begins. "I want to take a moment to let you know that I have left my
position as manager of Nobles. It has been quite an experience working with
Nobles especially from the very beginning. This resignation as manager is not
on account of any individual grievances faced but of a personal choice to
challenge myself on some other new experiences. I have shared a unique
camaraderie with most of you which I hope will continue in the years to come.
"I wish Nobles and the esteemed
Noble Nation team the very best. Y’all make these past years memorable and it
was a pleasure working with y’all. May Allah SWT help you in all your endeavors and always bring success to your
doorstep."
In a comment about what the future
holds for his new outfit, Tijan wrote that the Fizzle Entertainment team is
"proud to be associated with the Davido with a Difference show slated
for 9 December at Qcity. After that, so many things will follow. I thank
you for taking time to read this and I look forward to working with most of you
even as we continue to support each other. At the end of the day, we are doing
this for The Gambia our homeland, where we strive, work and pray."
Reached for comment on the exit of
Tjan, a member of Nobles, told local media: "We wish him all the best in
his endeavor he is still a brother and mentor in our career."
