YEP launches IT, digital entrepreneurship component

The Youth Empowerment Project (YEP), a European Union funded flagship project to The Gambia launched an Information Technology (IT) and digital entrepreneurship component aimed at developing the IT sector with a focus on tech start-up support programme that on board 25 Gambian tech start-ups. The launching was held yesterday at The Gambia Chambers for Commerce and Industry’s main office in Bijilo. Baboucarr Sallah, the project manager at YEP explained that Yep is a four years project that is looking in various sector and the IT is part of them, in order to create opportunities for the young medium and small scale enterprises in developing their businesses. “We initiated this programme to help them move from the level they are currently into more advance level and giving them the opportunity for networking both locally and internationally. Bakary Bunja Darboe alias BB, the former vice president of the first republic disclosed at a press conference held today at Fajara that the past People’s Progressive Party (PPP) congress totally lack legitimacy. “The election was not base on universal sovereign. Hon. Jawara debunks Foni Bondali MP’s allegation to gov’t

Fatoumatta Jawara has debunked the recent statement of Foni Bondali’s parliamentarian Kaddy Camara for serious derogatory remarks against the United Democratic Party (UDP) and the government of President Adama Barrow. It can be recalled that Hon. Kaddy Camara stated during APRC’s rally in Foni that the government of The Gambia killed Haruna Jatta who died in protest held at the former president’s resident in Kanilai. 11 petrol stations risk closure by PURA

Ansumana Sanneh, the director general of Public Regulatory Authority (PURA) stated that on 1 st February 2019, PURA dispatched legal notices to non-compliant service stations to regularise their license status by 7 th February 2019 or risk been shut down. However PURA quest to shut them down eleven petrol stations this week. “As of this morning, 8 th February 2019, the following service petrol stations have been ordered to suspend their operations until they regularise their license status with PURA pursuant to section 6(2) of the Petroleum Product Act, 2016 which prohibits a person from “petroleum products supply operation without obtaining a license under the Act.” These were revealed at a press conference held at PURA main office over the weekend He added that monitors are on their way if any of the listed station is found operating, will be shut down until their status are regularised in line with the Act.   The executive and the general body of the union of Gambian Students in Russia (UGSR), announced to the government of the Gambia, the Russian Federation student unions and prospective partners about the reformation of (UGSR). The union consists of all Gambian students studying in different Russian universities and is the only recognized body that acts for or on behalf of any Gambian student who is or will be studying in the Russian Federation. The mission of the union are to promote the well-being of Gambians students and better friendship, interaction, and understanding between the students and other groups in Russia, support extracurricular activities, build a partnership with both Gambian and Russian authorities.
