Gamstars Movie to produce series film title Tollof-Tollof

Gambia Stars (Gamstars) Movie Production, a Gambian entertainment and educational group aimed at promoting and encouraging cultural values, fostering community spirit through creativity, will be producing a Tele-Series title Tollof-Tollof. The series is said to be played in QTV.

This was revealed in an orientation held on Wednesday at the Kanifing Municipal Council’s Chambers.

The Chief Executive Officer and the director Pa Modou Cham stated that Gamstars is a film production established in 2012 to provide and equip Gambian youths with the necessary life and emotional skills to grow and transform them into future actors.

He added that they use to build confidence and empower young talented and creative Gambian with constructive, critical competencies, innovative life skills and knowledge for economic and sustainable development through film making.

Mr. Cham explained that films contribute a lot in socio economic development of any country, saying an example is UK where their quarterly report showed that the UK economy grew by 0.3% in the three months to June, with a 0.5% rise in services. So we can see that film is among the fastest way of economic growth.

“In our achievements, Gamstars produced a movie titled the great big tree kingdom, the sentiment and many comedy films. Ten of our members acted in the movie titled massacre, four played in DOM BAI, one in dark memory and  one of our comedy films was been nominated for the special movie award last year,” he said.

He called on government, private sectors and responsible citizens to support Gambian film makers.

The Creative and Fine Arts Officer at the National Center for Arts and Culture (NCAC) Matty Jobe reiterated that film has a vital role in country’s development and urges that the actors should keep doing their efforts to catch their dreams.

“Everybody knows that the film industry needs support but and urging you not to depend only on government and private sector. Actors should just collaborates and be committed by giving best of our efforts,” she said.

She added that they are about to create an opportunities for the actors, writers, director and producers by introducing an entrepreneurship program that will help equip the members of the film industry.

Abdoulie Ceesay the assistance creative performing and fine arts at NCAC explained that national center for arts and culture is an institution that help Gambians in performing arts, especially for the young people that are showcasing their talents.

He added that the council is always ready to support, saying “though we didn’t have the resources to sponsor each and every Gambians but we are trying our best to make sure that we give our fullest support”.
