China to launch cooperation programs on the prevention of communicable diseases

The ambassador of The Peoples’ Republic of China to The Gambia Ma Jainchun has revealed that his government will launch cooperation programs on the prevention and control of emerging and re-emerging communicable diseases, schistosomiasis, HIV and AIDS and malaria for African countries.

He made these remarks recently at the commemoration of world AIDS day held at the Paradise Suit Hotel, alongside Senegambia.

He said China will train more medical specialists for Africa and continue to send medical teams that better meet Africa’s needs.

He added that the initiatives delineate the blueprint for China-Africa relations in the new era and open a new direction for our future work on China-Africa cooperation.

“The successful holding of the FOCAC Beijing Summit marks another step forwards in China-Africa relations and create historic opportunities for our health cooperation. During the summit, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced eight major initiatives in collaboration with Africa. One of them is capacity building training on health care in the area of prevention and control of HIV and AIDS, which especially focused under the health care initiative,” he explained.

He lamented that starting from 2019, China will work with African countries and relevant international organisations, with a three year programs for adolescents AIDS prevention and community health program in China and Africa.
