President Barrow congratulates his Senegalese counterpart




The president of The Gambia Adama Barrow has congratulated his Senegalese counterpart Macky Sall for winning the 2019 past election.

  
Mr. Barrow wrote on his twitter page saying “While I would also like to congratulate the people of Senegal for successful, peaceful elections, I stand ready to continue working with you to promote the welfare and wellbeing of our people and the sub region as a whole.”


President Sall took 58% of the vote in the poll in which he faced four challengers, but was accused of preventing some of his main rivals from running.



About six million people in Senegal, out of 15 million people have reported to have voted in the recent elections.



President Barrow also extended felicitations, through President Sall, to the people of Senegal for conducting free, fair and peaceful elections.



He reaffirmed his commitment to work with President Sall to promote stronger ties for the benefit of the peoples of both countries and beyond.
