CaDO gives medical equipment to 6 hospitals

By Pa Modou Cham The Catholic Development Office (CaDO), a non-profit organisation has over the weekend donated medical equipment to Bansang, Bundung, Edward Francis, Farafenni, St. Lazarus clinic and Kanifing General hospital. Among the items given were: 19 firefly photo therapy, 11 Calibri photo therapy, 2 wallaby warmer, 23 12V uninterruptible power supply, 11 nursing kit and 19 internal backup batteries. The organization that had registered under the ministry of justice, has it’s mandate to coordinate its economic, social and development work with the aim of attaining a more human and society, irrespective of creed, race or ideology. Gambia host 10th annual rigional meeting of NHMIS

By Pa Modou Cham The Gambia have been given the prevailed to hold the 10th annual meeting of National Health Management Information System (NHMIS) yesterday, with the objective to review the status of implementation of the recommendation from the 2018 meeting and to discuss the priority actions to be carried out within the framework of the partnership for the next 12 months. However the meeting is important, as the sub-region is working collectively and earnestly in gaining momentum in combating diseases that could threat the health and well-being of the population. Senior police officer blames Barrow, Police over 3 years Jotna fracas

Chief Superintendent Officer of The Gambia Police Forces (GPF), Muhammad Kanteh has revealed to the press that his family is under target by President Adama Barrow’s government while blaming both Barrow and the GPF for illegally offended citizens who took the streets to exercise their constitutional rights, as the permit was granted to them by the IGP. The senior officer who leaves 100 men in Brikama under his command because of anger and what he described as illegal and unfair to the country for the police to assault citizens, Kanteh said he does not care to lose his job and remain as a private lawyer. Over 50 wounded as police fired tear gases, bullets on anti gov’t protesters

Over 50 people are reported wounded as a result of tear gases and rubber bullets fired by the paramilitaries and anti crime unit of The Gambia Police Force (GPF) who were assisted by some soldiers in the ground to control 3 years Jotna protesters during a fracas. The anti government protesters are a pressure group calling on the president to honor the three years MoU and step down this month. However, the police seriously wounded some of the victims and many fainted after inhaling gases. Victims' center to protest against APRC permit approval

As the country is mourn with protest upon protest, the Center for Victims and Human Rights Violations (Victims' Center) has yesterday revealed their plan to protest on the 23rd of January 2020, due to the police decision in granting APRC a permit. After the APRC permit request to protest for former President Yahya Jammeh to return home, the victims' center have been tirelessly calling on the police to withheld the approval.  However, APRC were granted permit 8 hours before their planned time, which was executed yesterday at the streets of Sukuta Traffic light in solidarity to Jammeh's homecoming. This prompted the victims centre's yesterday request to the police,  in order to protest and express their heartfelt and dissapointment to the Police. Police turn down 3 years Jotna permit ahead of Monday's protest

The Office of the Inspector General of Police has decided not to give a permit to the Anti-government protesters (3 years Jotna), in order to carry out their planned protest to come this January 20 th , due to compelling national security and public safety concerns. The pressure group is calling on President Adama Barrow to step down after three years as per the coalition agreement, the movement, however was granted a permit last month to demonstrate. The demo that was carried out by the movement was ended with a petition submitted to the president through the government spokesperson Ebrima Sankara, demanding the president to step down before January 16. Modernizing the health sector: Minister gives 2 ambulances, promises health centers

Part of fulfilling President Adama Barrow’s meet the people tour promises to make a different in the country’s development, Dr. Ahmad Lamin Samateh, the Minister of Health has over the weekend gave two ambulances to the community of Nema Kunka in Upper Nuimi and Njau Sawalo in Upper Saloum, while promised to build about five health centers. After the presentation of the ambulances, the minister stated that “As you know the government inherited lot of challenges but nonetheless we have stated to solve them one by one because the people of the country deserves adequate healthcare service delivery for the various communities.” Dr. Samateh said healthcare is expensive and must of the equipment we use are imported and the resources are inadequate but they are doing whatever they can to ensure that the people received what they actually deserves. Health minister visits horrible health posts, promised support

Dr. Ahmad Lamin Samateh, the Minister of Health has over the weekend visited about five horrible health posts in North Bank Region (NBR) and Central River Region (CRR), as part of fulfilling President Adama Barrow’s meet the people tour promises to make a different in the country’s development. All the facilities they had visited are dilapidated and had no proper building, nor equipment or enough medication and nurses. Among the posts he visited were Nema Kunku in Upper Nuimi, Njau Sawalo in Upper Saloum, and Darou, Nawliro, Kerr Ardo and Kerewan in Badibou. 1st lady foundation awards 1st 2020 babies

Fatou Bah Barrow Foundation (FABB) with the support from Gamtel/Gamcel and Karpowership, has yesterday awarded a total cash of 75, 000 dalasi and baby clothing to first six identified born babies in 2020 from Banjul, Serrekunda and Bundung hospital. The first-born babies were awarded with a sum of 15, 000 dalasi with the support from Gamtel/Gamcel, while the second babies were sponsored by Karpowership with the amount of 10, 000 dalasi.
