Gov’t trained CSOs, media on public finance management

By Pa Modou Cham The ministry of finance has recently concluded two day training on public finance management to Civic Society Organizations (CSOs) and the media held at a local hotel in Kololi, to familiar with the new strategy of Treasury Single Account (TSA) initiative. Mr. Ansumana Yabo, Board Chairperson of The Association of Non-Government Organization, said part of their work is to sensitize the grass root to be aware of activities of the government. He said “The consultation would help in supporting accountability mechanisms for the Ministry of Finance. It would also help the Ministry of Finance in the areas of transparency, support in the dissemination of key information regarding public finance, for this reason inviting us here, we are grateful”. Over 300 people switched allegiance to GDC

By Pa Modou Cham According to the National youth president of Gambia Democratic Congress ( GDC ) MC Cham Junior has disclosed that more than 300 people in Ngain Sanjal from different political parties have on 26th June, 2019 switched allegiance to GDC. This had happened during a rally organized in Dibba Kunda in Central River Region North. The GDC was formed in 2016 priority to the 2016 election and lead by Mamma Kandeh who was one time member of parliament under former dictator Yahya Jammeh.

Outgoing French envoy affirms France continued support to Gambia

The outgoing French ambassador to Senegal overseeing The Gambia His Excellency Christophe Bigot has disclosed that his government is committed to continued support to The Gambia‘s democracy, development in the area of agriculture, health, tourism and security. The ambassador was speaking at a press briefing yesterday held at the French embassy alongside Fajara. H.E Bigot explained that he went with the Vice President and the President to Kiona and Fatoto to visit authorities for the education project they are implementing for the French teachers. KMC commission 23 waste trucks

The Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) has on Saturday commissioned its 23 waste trucks that meant for collection of waste in both residential and commercial areas. The lunching and commissioning was held at Buffer Zone in Tallinding. Waste collection and rubbish disposal play an extremely important role in the country’s cleanliness and sustainability drive, with people’s health and the conservation of resources being the responsibility of every government.  Talib Ahmed Bensouda, the Mayor of KMC has described the ceremony as a historic and innovative municipal waste management initiative between KM ward development committees and Espace Motors. “The PPP lifespan is three years after which the trucks will be fully owned by the KMC. It consists of 19 wards and the fees for residents are 50-100 dalasi per month for weekly collection depending on usage.” He assumed the trucks would be the highlight of the event however this was overshadowed by the unity and humility show
